Europastry backs innovation in frozen dough/pastry
ALFORJA nº 310
April-May’ 06
Europastry
is the leading company in the frozen dough/pastry
sector in Spain, with 40% of the market share, and
is one of the top five companies at European level.
It currently commercialises the “Yaya
María”, “Frida”
and “Fripan”
brands, alongside a chain of bakeries called El Molí
Vell. One of the secrets of the company’s success
is its dedicated backing of innovation.
Last year it had a sales turnover of 240 million
Euro, 10.6% up on 2004, and forecasts for this current
year, 2006, are at 265 million Euro.
An example of this growth is Europastry’s
position at no. 21 of the Top 100 rating published
by “Business Week and Europe’s Entrepreneurs
for Growth”, an organisation that recognises
the European companies with the highest rates of growth,
and those which have created the most jobs, since
2001. Let us not forget that Europastry
has a workforce of over 2,200.
Europastry has various
projects underway with forecast investment of more
than 30 million Euro for 2006.
At an international level, it is to build a new
factory in Portugal, on the outskirts of Lisbon, to
be up and running this year. At a national level,
it is to build two refrigerated silos at the Vallmoll
and Rubí plants in order to offer improved
service to its customers.
Furthermore, some months ago Europastry
bought Palmapan, the leading part-baked bread company
in the Balearic Islands market, with approximate sales
of 8 million Euro. It is also the leader in Spain
in manufacture of bread packaged in a protective atmosphere.
It has a production plant in Palma de Mallorca, with
an annual capacity of more than 18,000 tons of part-baked
bread.
News
Europastry has always
backed innovation in frozen dough/pastry. This is
one reason for its market success.
Hence, “Yaya
María” continues to innovate within
the line of bread and pastry products, and has just
launched two more products in the defrost-and-ready
range: “Bombón a la crema” and
“Panychoc”, two chocolate specialities
that all the family will love.
The “Bombón de Crema” is a real
explosion of sensations: first you bite through though
the crisp chocolate coating, then you come to the
spongy Danish dough that gives it body, and finally
to the smooth filling of real crème pâtissière
that melts in the mouth.
“Panychoc” is a delicious kind of brioche
roll, ideal for breakfast and snacks. “Yaya
María” adds delicious real chocolate
chips to the softest, classic brioche dough: an original,
versatile format, specially aimed at children –
it is rich in calcium and is beneficial for growth.
Meanwhile, “Frida”
presents a new product in its “Marian”
range to meet the demands of customers: the “6-cereal
Croissant”, a healthy, nutritious, delicious
croissant made with the best cereals. Oats, poppy,
sesame, linseed, bran and soya, a perfect combination
that looks after your body while you enjoy its unique
taste.
People in society today worry about the close relationship
between their state of health and the foods they eat.
The search for a balanced diet with health benefits
is giving rise to new consumer trends. Consumers now
look for foods that both satisfy the palate and also
meet the requirements of healthy, balanced nutrition.
This is the idea at the heart of the “Marian
Corpore Sano” range: to offer products that
are beneficial to the health and contribute to maintaining
a balanced diet. They are products which are always
produced with the best ingredients. Healthy eating
without sacrificing the finest flavour.
